Student Success Workshops

Student Success Workshops are designed to provide students with strategies to enhance their academic learning. All workshops are organized, designed, and led by First Year Peer Coaches. 

Join us in Person in Plover Hall Room 530. No registration is necessary. 


Spring Forward and Start out strong— Syllabus & Canvas
Thursday January 25th— 12:15 - 1:00 pm

Syllabus: The framework for your class; lists due dates and class expectations.
Office Hours: Provides early opportunities to connect with your professor.
Canvas: Where you can access assignments and important documents.
Grades: Can see grades on Canvas—but be careful! They're not always what they seem.


Money, Support and more! — Resources & Financial Aid
Wednesday February 7th  — 12:15 - 1:00 pm

Campus Resources: Many departments on campus help students! EOPS, DRD, MESA, Career Services, Handshake (Hiring Platform) and more provide services to students, like supportive accommodations and tutorial assistance.
Financial Aid: SRJC also provides robust opportunities to support your education through financial aid, of which there are many different sources to draw from!


Get Ahead and Stay Ahead — Planning & Organization
Wednesday March 6th — 12:15 - 1:00 pm

Task Manager: Learn how to record and reference the objectives you need to complete.
Calendar: Master tracking your appointments and events.
Note-taking System: Figure out the best note-taking system for you.
Productive Mindset: Develop the best mindset for productivity and efficiency.


Just Keep Going- You Got this! — Attention & Procrastination
Wednesday March 27th — 12:15 - 1:00 pm

Motivation: Maximize motivation through a few easy adjustments!
Attention: Discover the various forms of concentration and improve your ability to focus.
Building Good Habits: Train your brain to resist temptations—especially from your phone!


Care and Connect — Self-Care Skills
Wednesday April 17th — 12:15 - 1:00 pm

Exercise: Increase energy levels; keeps you fit and happy; helps you sleep better!
Rest: Affects concentration, mood, and productivity.
Diet: Get the energy and nutrition you need to thrive!
Mental Health: Learn how to best manage anxiety and stress.

Finals are stressful, we know. Come join your peers to talk about it! Together we will reflect on our triumphs and the struggles encountered during the semester, and discuss ways we can best prepare for finals.
