Santa Rosa Campus
Meet with a peer coach or refer a student.
Students can schedule support directly, and SRJC employees can connect a student with the coaching team.

Conversation starters for office hours
You do not need to know exactly what to say. Start with a specific assignment, requirement, or question.
- Why did I lose points on this assignment?
- I don’t understand what this term means. Could you explain it another way?
- Could you tell me more about this requirement?
- Where can I get one-to-one help with this requirement?
- Is there a book or website that could help with this assignment?
- What additional resources would you recommend if I want to learn more?
- What are the most common mistakes students make in essays for this class?
- What are the most common mistakes students make in these kinds of problems?
- Is there a strategy that can help me remember this?
Faculty and staff referrals
Refer a student to Welcome & Connect.
Instructional faculty and student-service colleagues may refer a student who could benefit from Welcome & Connect services or peer coaching.
How to make a referral
Email program coordinator Kyle Wallstrum with the student information needed to make contact and a brief description of the support concern.
What happens next
- The team attempts to contact the student through appropriate methods.
- A coach explains available services, offers coaching, and connects other resources.
- The referring employee receives a general update about whether contact occurred and the broad outcome.
- If the student needs a different coaching program, the team helps connect them with the appropriate service.
Clear expectations
Coaching is skill-building support—not counseling, health care, or an emergency service.
For education planning and academic decisions, visit Counseling. For physical or mental health services, visit Student Health Services. If there is an immediate emergency, call 911 or District Police.
